HI, congrats…I had a question about the OPK you used from dollar tree…I didn’t see a comment area on that page so, I have a 29-31 day cycle Trying for baby #5, I know!! 🙂 but anyway….tracking is weird this time because baby #4 is still baby and nursing…so I bought OPK from dollar tree and there is a very faint line but I’m thinking no way can I be ovulating on day 7 when my period doesn’t come until day 29-31….It looked like you ovulated past day 20 and still were able to get pregnant? I keep reading that its harder to conceive after “teen ” days…but I’m thinking that I ovulate late too which might explain all the trying during days 14-17 to no avail…this can be confusing? Do you think the fertility friend site works good?

Hi,Melissa. One important thing to remember about an OPK is that a positive result is one in which the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. Because you always have some LH in your body, only a surge indicates ovulation. It sounds from your comment like your line was very faint and not as dark as the control? If that’s the case, you’re not ovulating yet, so just keep testing once a day to catch that surge. Afternoons are the optimal time to test LH. I don’t know about it being more difficult to conceive after the “teen” days, but conception is definitely more difficult if you’re not sure when in your cycle you’re ovulating. 🙂 I did really enjoy using fertility friend, especially for combining different methods of tracking ovulation- like OPKs, temping, and cervical checks- and then being able to see them all on a graph. Good luck conceiving baby #5 (woo hoo!), and I’ll be happy to answer any other questions to the best of my ability. I love love love talking conception, pregnancy, and birth! 🙂
