Let’s Do Some Catching Up (aka BIG NEWS)!

Well, it’s been awhile, to say the least.  A LOT has happened.  For brevity’s sake, and in the interest of getting back to talking about the present, let’s summarize:

  1. We took a lot of vacations this year.  I mean, it was pretty much the YEAR of vacations.  Three weddings, trips to see family in all corners of the country….   Alex got plenty of flying in while he was still a lap child.  AND he actually is becoming more tolerant of car travel, so we did a few short road trips.  My baby is growing up!

  2. We moved from Michigan to Oregon.  BIG change!  I sometimes still can’t believe that we actually did it, but we picked up and moved from the Detroit area to the Portland area.  This all took place a little over 4 months ago, and we still don’t have all of our stuff (long story).  Yeah, it’s been a bit of a vagabond life, but it’s almost over as we get our stuff in 3 days.  YAY!  We love love love Oregon.

  3. Since Alex still isn’t talking at nearly 22 months, we had him evaluated for tongue tie.  Yes, he does have a posterior tongue (that’s what caused all the breastfeeding problems- hello!), but he’s compensated well for it over time.  Because of this, the ENT we saw said that he’s quite certain it’s not causing a global speech delay.  We’ll have Alex’s hearing tested as a precaution, but otherwise he’s just going to take his jolly time with the talking business.  And I’m ok with that.  I’d like to devote an entire post to talking about tongue and lip tie sometime in the near future.

  4. We sold a house and bought a house.  Our Michigan house sold very quickly, for which we were very thankful, and then we were able to find what is pretty much our dream house on 1.25 acres in a rural forested area outside Portland.  We’re still in the midst of getting new carpet and paint, but it’s peaceful and quiet out here and we feel very very blessed that this is where we get to live and raise our children.

  5. And, speaking of children… our most exciting new development is that WE’RE EXPECTING BABY #2 IN MAY!  😀  I’m 10 weeks, 1 day pregnant, and so excited to be completing our little family!  We have only told our close friends and immediate family so far, so if you know me in real life mum’s the word for a few more weeks.  🙂  There will be lots of pregnancy-related blogs coming up, so stay tuned for the nitty gritty!
